Perhaps I could have included BASIC, given its simplicity, but admittedly I was mentally weighing use in the industry when determining that list of languages. That said, I think your initial comparison is hyperbolic; Java was my first language and while I agree it isn’t as intuitive for beginners, it certainly isn’t unattainable to progress when learning it. At least one isn’t directly concerned with pointers and memory management while learning a whole fleet of concepts.
